The Admin Team Blog

Forum rules will be enforced by the Admin and Moderator team. We want everyone to have an enjoyable time using the Yummy Mummy Forum, but in order to keep this a happy and welcoming place for all we do need to have a few simple rules.

Repeated failure to follow the rules may result in a member being banned, but we will do this only as a last resort, after a fair warning period. Our decision on any issue involving rules is final but do contact us if you think you've been unfairly treated.

The most important rule is to enjoy the site and think before you post - just thinking...

I for one really enjoy being an Admin on this forum.
I've been pretty absent recently, for obvious reasons having had my second little one just 8 weeks ago, but it feels great to be getting back into the forum.
In my absence, new features have become available, such as better links with Facebook. But some new problems have come up as well, with user registration issues for a handful of new members and problems with the images on the site.
It's a different sort of challenge sorting out these issues and implementing new features to the challenge of looking after my girls or my normal...

One of the frustrations of being part of the Admin team is the things that are totally beyond our control.
We try to produce a forum that's fun and supportive for our members, welcoming to new joiners and easy to use. But we seem to have been plagued in the last few days with glitches!!
First some display issues that mean some members, but not all, have had problems with posts not displaying properly, blank or disappearing posts and their page header overlapping the top of the forum. The biggest problem is trying to work out why these things happen and in some cases I'm afraid we're having...

One of the tasks for the Admin team is keeping the structure of the forums as accessible and useful to our members as possible.
It can be quite a challenge as we need to keep all the areas that people find useful, try to avoid hiding things away where people won't realise they exist, but at the same time keep the front page of the forum tidy so it doesn't become too unwieldy for users.
There are so many different ways that things could be organised and of course one person's organised will be another person's mess!!
One thing we do try to do is let you know when we've made changes...

One of the biggest issues for a forum like this is keeping the forum active.
The best way to do this is to keep our existing members and encourage new ones.
Since revamping the forum, we've done a lot of work to make sure it's well advertised and that people are reminded to come back or encouraged to join.

Welcome to the new Admin Team blog, which we'll use to update you on what we're up to for the forum. There's a lot that goes on behind the scenes, so hopefully it will be interesting for you guys to hear a little bit of what we're working on!!
